Alzheimer’s Facilities - These are assisted living facilities, nursing homes or hospitals specializing in care for people with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia. Most facilities offer a range of programs that are geared for the cognitively disabled and many have secure units for residents who have a tendency to wander. As you select a facility for your loved one there are may important factors to consider including comfort, safety, security and staff training. Be sure to visit the facility more than one time, so you can get a sense of what it’s like there day to day not just the day of your tour. Check with staff, patients and visitors to get their opinions as well and be sure to ask about the qualifications and training for the staff that will be providing care for your loved one.
